Microcarriers
In vaccine manufacturing processes, including COVID-19 vaccines, microcarriers are utilized for cell culture. The most significant of these are weakly cationic microcarriers (microcarriers with weak positive surface charge). A prominent example is Cytodex (modified DEAE-Agarose microcarrier), which is equivalent to Cytodex 1 microcarrier.
