Protein Research Laboratory of Argbiotech
Noavaran Zist Gostar Arg Company, a pioneer in the design and production of various agarose‑based chromatography resins used for the separation of biological drugs, recombinant vaccines, and products derived from human blood plasma, has taken a fundamental step toward expanding the frontiers of knowledge in medical biotechnology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, biochemistry, and biology in Iran by establishing a modern laboratory for protein research. This research institution, located in Tabriz within the scientific‑research complex of the East Azerbaijan Science and Technology Park, will serve as the national hub for research on proteins, antibodies, enzymes, and peptides, and will provide a scientific and technical foundation for solving complex problems related to the separation and purification of various proteins.
The specialized Arg Protein Research Laboratory is equipped with an FPLC system, a high‑speed centrifuge, a shaking incubator, a Western blot system, and vertical electrophoresis (SDS‑PAGE) apparatus for detection and analysis. These facilities support research in key areas of biotechnology, including the development of specific agarose‑based protein purification resins, design of diagnostic kits, formulation of dietary supplements, and purification of high‑demand enzymes. The fundamental objective of establishing this center is to investigate and evaluate the purification conditions of various recombinant and native proteins, as well as to create an integrated ecosystem for researchers, specialists, and companies active in downstream industries of drug and vaccine manufacturing, enabling them to work in a coordinated and continuous manner to address the limitations and complex challenges related to biomacromolecules in the field of biotechnology.
Furthermore, a microbiological testing laboratory and a bacterial culture systems laboratory have been equipped and launched alongside the Arg research and development (R&D) unit to gather supplementary data for the company’s R&D projects. The construction of a dedicated laboratory for the design and production of recombinant and engineered proteins represents the next step for the Arg group toward achieving self‑sufficiency in biotech drug research in the country. By offering customized solutions aligned with established requirements, this group will be a reliable partner in accelerating the commercialization of biological products.
It is worth noting that Arg Group has been active since 2017 (1396 Persian calendar) as the first knowledge‑based enterprise in Iran engaged in the industrial production of various agarose‑based chromatography resins in the country’s biotechnology sector.
